      JUNIOR dance programs

      Ballet
Kids ballet classes introduce children to dance in a supportive setting, teaching them basic moves and positions while improving coordination. Ballet also helps kids express themselves creatively through movement and music, fostering a love for dance and developing important life skills.

      CONTEMPORARY

Versatile, dynamic and fun movements developed from elements of Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Our training is highly technical with a mixture of modern movements from Contemporary Ballet and Modern Release techniques. Contemporary classes are for dancers aged 6+.

      HIP HOP

Our beginners learn basic body control and choreography through fun training routines, while developing their core muscles and expressive abilities. They move onto learning a range of movement vocabulary and combinations. Our Hip Hop classes start for dancers aged 5+.

      ACRO

Acro is the beautiful fusion of classical dance technique with tumbling and acrobatic elements. Classes include body conditioning, stretch and flexibility, balancing, limbering and tumbling, all which help to create versatile, strong and athletic dancers.  Classes in Acro start from 4+

      CHEER

Cheerleading is a dynamic, fun and energetic sport that combines elements of dance with floor based gymnastic skills and team stunts.  Classes include body conditioning, stretching and flexibility and cheer skills such as jumps, dance, stunts and tumbling. Classes in cheerleading start from 5+.

I signed up in January 2020 and attended the dance program regularly ever since. Amazing professional and highly qualified instructors of top quality - loaded with experience and absolutely loved and adored by the dance community. Definitely a place to join without a doubt!

      FAQ

The best age for children to start dance classes is 3 to 4 years old.  At this age children can hugely benefit from the social and developmental aspects of dance classes, whilst also developing their motor skills, rhythm and confidence.  Our classes encourage children to explore music and movement through the lense of their own imagination, whilst also working on core skills such as balancing, coordination and basic dance technique.  At Studio Republik we offer both Ballet and Acro classes to students within this age group.

The best dance style for kids to start with is often ballet. Ballet provides a strong foundation in dance technique, emphasizing proper body alignment, discipline, and coordination.

From 4 years old children can also benefit from our AcroDance program, with classes focusing on improving strength and flexibility, as well as tumbling skills such as cartwheels and handstands.

Yes! Showcases and participation in local and international competitions are integral parts of our programs. These opportunities allow our students to demonstrate their skills, bond with their peers, and face new challenges.

While Acrobatics and Gymnastics share some similarities such as elements of tumbling and a large focus on strength and flexibility, Acro is a style of dance, rather than a competitive sport.  Acro has a greater emphasis on artistry and fluidity from one skill to another and skills can be combined with other dance styles such as contemporary or jazz.  At Studio Republik we teach the Acrobatic Arts syllabus which focuses on 5 key areas: flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling. AcroDance blends seamlessly these acrobatic skills with classic dance technique, creating a beautiful fusion of skills onstage.

We offer annual examinations for children who take classes in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Cheerleading and Acro.  These examinations are conducted by both the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and Acrobatic Arts.  Each child’s skills and performance qualities are assessed and successful candidates receive certificates and/or medals.  Candidates who successfully take Acrobatic Arts exams will have the opportunity to move up to the next level.
